Kate Davies' Book Selection for February 2024

BOOKMARK Book Recommendations: February 2024

One extra day this February – what to do? Read another book, of course.

Newly published is The Library of Heartbeats by Laura Imai Messina and due out in February is the paperback of Cuddy by Benjamin Myers.   Also due out this month is The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey,

February of course also gives us an excuse (if one is needed) to get romantic, particularly in a leap year. From the classics, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and while researching this month’s recommendations, I also came across Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Marquez

A couple of left-field recommendations next, starting with Doomed Romances: Strange Tales of Uncanny Love, edited by Joanne Ellas Parsons and, in sharp contrast, is the newly published collection of poems by Wendy Cope: Orange and Other Poems  Perhaps most appropriate for this month would be to share the opening lines from Valentine:

My heart has made its mind up
And I’m afraid it’s you.

I hope you enjoy these recommendations. Do let me know if you have any suggestions you would like to share.
