Karen Campbell

Galloway-based Karen Campbell is the author of eight novels, with her ninth published by Canongate next spring. Before turning to writing, Karen was a police officer in Glasgow, then a press officer with Glasgow City Council, and was Writer in Residence at Dumfries & Galloway Council during the Covid pandemic. Her most recent novel Paper Cup , which won BOOKMARK Book of the Year 2023, tells the story of Kelly, a homeless woman, as she makes the slow pilgrimage back home to the wee town she left so long ago. Paper Cup is a novel about how easy it might be to fall through the cracks - and what it takes to rebuild a life.
